Welcome to the APES CareBase
APES CareBase
APES CareBase is the UKโs comprehensive resource for the registration, welfare, and management of animals in human care. Developed by the Association of Protecting Exotic Species CIC, the platform supports responsible ownership, high welfare standards, conservation outcomes, and legislative compliance nationwide.
APES CareBase was formerly known as APES NED (National Exotics Database).
The name has been updated to reflect the expanded scope of the platform, which now holds and manages information beyond exotic species alone, encompassing a wider range of animals, care settings, and professional use cases.
APES CareBase is a not-for-profit initiative.
The platform is developed and maintained to support animal welfare, transparency, and informed decision-making across the UK.

Reporting Concerns
Use the platform to report lost or found animals, suspected illegal activity, or welfare concerns. Reports may be reviewed and, where appropriate, shared with relevant authorities.
